WOW!

Thu Apr 23, 2009, 2:16 PM
Hey!

I can't remember the last time I took photos - things have been so busy! I'm getting married in a little over a month, and I never dreamt that wedding planning (and buying a home - hooray!) could take up so much time! So, I finally got out the other day and took Ami and Jason's engagement photos and I also got some photos of a just-blooming bush, which was lovely. FINALLY! I'm satisfying my shutter-bug itch. :) I hope all is well with you all. I will hopefully be taking some more photos now that it's not 20 below and sharing them on DA.

Many Blessings,

KassandraJo :)

Art is Powerful.

Tue Dec 11, 2007, 5:13 PM
Gosh. Life has been so crazy these past 8 months or so. Words can hardly express all that I have experienced and all that I have felt. Love and pain, fulfillment and loneliness, unspeakable happiness and unutterable sorrow, moments of illumination and moments of deep darkness. It's amazing how God has created this world to be - such a full spectrum of powerful emotion.

Art is such a beautiful thing. Not only is it visually pleasing, but good art, (the kind that I am aiming for, and am doubting that I'll ever get there)... good art is able to sympathize with our emotions; to give us something to relate to... to make us feel. When our lives get so busy, it seems like the first things out the window are things like art, friendship, beauty, rest; things that aren't necessarily "needed" to survive. But I think we tend to miss the point, as C.S. Lewis said, "Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival." God has given us all of these beautiful things - Nature: in all of it's breathless splendor, the starry skies, rich sunsets, hopeful sunrises, angry clouds and refreshing raindrops. People: in their beauty and in their imperfections. All of this is to point to Him and His goodness to us - in giving us life and giving us an opportunity to have meaning and true beauty in this life through trusting in His son, Jesus Christ. I'm so glad that God has given so many people such great talent in art - in particular, photography has really struck me. I wish I had a paid account on DA so I could upload the photos - but alas, I am poor. So I will post links of some of the photos that have really touched my heart and of some of the photographer that I aspire to be like and you will have to click them. :)

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Romans 1:19-20 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Much love,
Kassy :)

Well, I haven't been a member of dA for that long, but I've decided that it is time. :) I have really enjoyed looking through all of the great art on this site and I have also really enjoyed being apart of this community, it helps me strive to do my best. Since I just love finding great art/artists, I want to feature some of the marvelous treasures that I have come across, so.... wahlah! My first feature!

Joel, otherwize known as Dreamscape86 [link] is a good friend of mine from church, I highly recommend his gallery to you. I find that his composition and lighting is outstanding; his gallery is so neat and polished. Here are a few of my favorites... enjoy!
